Vice President

This position is full time position. The Data Governance Officer (DGO) is a senior leadership role, who is responsible for implementing Data Governance Policy and Procedures across the NY branch. The DGO will liaise with various business functions and departments throughout NYB to support project initiation and planning, execution, and implementation of core data management capabilities (including training), and data and analytics initiatives including face off with internal and external regulators. This role will support head of the department in cultivating and fostering data-driven culture across branch through multi-level training and education series. Act as risk managers with the responsibility for identifying, defining, acting on and escalating risks, and are held strictly accountable for the failure to discharge their risk management duties. Be responsible for demonstrating risk awareness by following all policies, procedures, and internal control in their daily routine.

Responsibilities

• Manage delivery of a portfolio of branch's data governance related initiatives based on data strategy program requirements.
• Provide quality assurance and ensure adherence to data management policies and standards in the businesses/functions.
• Lead and manage delivery of data management capabilities throughout the Branch (KDEs, data quality, data lineage, business and technical metadata).
• Liaise with stakeholders (Front Office, Back Office, Middle office, Business and Technology groups) across the Branch regarding their data processes and support efforts to enhance enterprise-wide data management and policy adoption.
• Campaign and represent the core Data Management Group across the firm; work collaboratively with department stakeholders in developing the department materials and supporting entailing activities for branch-wide DG working group meetings (developing BAU materials, special topics, providing guidance).
• Responsible for managing and overseeing remediation of NY branch-wide data issues cross all departments.
• Responsible for evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness of enterprise data standards including data quality, data lineage, metadata management and data issue remediation.
• Perform all the Risk and Internal Controls (RICO) collaborator assigned tasks (ORM – Operational Risk Management, ERM – Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Compliance Risk Assessment, vendor management related activities)
• Manage internal and external communications effectively at all management levels
• Support CDO communications and interactions with the internal (IA, DAV) and external regulators from a data management perspective.
• Support CDO-led initiatives across the data programs (such as Reference data management, analytics projects and others)
• Provide continuous guidance, required coaching and mentoring to team members
• Support CDO in creating awareness and forging a data-driven culture across the branch
• Bring-in prior industry experience, best practices and data management trends in the execution and implementation of the data management program
• Develop executive presentations (PowerPoint-based deliverables) in support of CDO's continuous upward communications and presentations

Education and Experience Requirements

• Master of Business Administration – Strategy, Finance, Statistics
• 9-11 years of experience in finance industry with strong background in data and analytics focusing on finance, regulatory and risk functions.

Skills and Knowledge

• Experience in executing large data management programs
• Big-4 management consulting experience is a plus
• Experience in engaging senior business stakeholders
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of regulatory and risk compliance functions.
• Banking / Financial services data domain experience - Finance and Risk
• Hands on experience in standing up Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Quality
• Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams – business, technology, process, and program
• Strategy and road-map experience, with strong execution and follow-through delivery focus
