At Open Top Waste & Recycling a roll off driver is responsible for safely operating a roll off truck to provide safe, timely & courteous delivery and removals of open top dumpsters from our customers' construction job sites. You as a driver will dump loads at designated landfill or recycling sites in the local DFW area. Driver is responsible for ensuring his or her vehicle is in compliance with the Company’s safety standards and state and federal regulations.

Roll Off Truck Driver Responsibilities:

  • Perform complete pre- and post-trip inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure brakes, tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
  • Safely operate his or her heavy truck along designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.
  • Operate manual automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse.
  • Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify unsatisfactory open top containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
  • Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Roll Off Truck Driver Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of prior experience driving roll off trucks.
  • Successful completion of comprehensive background check at time of application and throughout employment
  • Successful completion of drug testing in accordance with company policies and applicable law
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must successfully complete all applicable pre-employment screening
  • Possess a valid clean Texas CDL license Class B or higher with air brake endorsement
  • Minimum Two years of prior experience driving heavy trucks with a waste management company requiring a commercial driver’s license
  • Legally able to work in the US
  • Have excellent time management skills, always on time
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to communicate, understand, and respond to questions
  • Able to work Saturdays occasionally if needed
  • Must be able to use or learn to use GPS, phone, Bluetooth headset, iPad, Garmin and tools used to perform the job

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, bend, reach, pull, or listen
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50 lbs. or more using safe lifting techniques
  • Able to be exposed to an environment which involves dirt, dust, odors, noise, weather extremes, etc

  • Excellent customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Excellent follow-through ability; adheres to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour

Full Time employment

Hours - 50 to 60 hours
